Sunday Morning Services: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Sunday services at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hudson, Ohio meet in the morning from 10:30 to 11:30. A musical prelude is followed by a greeting, the first of three hymns sung, Scriptural readings, prayer followed by the audible repetition of the Lord’s Prayer, a soloist, and a Lesson Sermon from our pastor, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker; the service ends with a musical postlude. A First Reader, democratically elected from the congregation, conducts the service and reads from Science and Health, and a Second Reader, also elected from the congregation, reads from the Bible.
The Lesson Sermon is prepared by The Mother Church and is studied in advance, weekly by students of Christian Science. It is the same sermon heard in all Christian Science churches throughout the world. The Lesson Sermon consists of citations from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Wednesday Evening Testimony Meetings: 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Our Wednesday Testimony Meetings include hymn singing, prayer, and readings from the Bible and Science and Health. The First Reader conducts the service and alone prepares readings that focus on subjects important to daily life, the congregation, the community, and the world, such as supply, health, patience, peace, forgiveness, and relationships. All attendees are invited to share testimonies of healing, remarks and insights from their prayers and study of Christian Science, and their understanding of God’s love to heal troubles of every kind.
Infants and young children are cared for in our Children’s Room during Sunday and Wednesday evening services.
Young people up to the age of 20 are invited to attend Sunday School which meets during the same time as the Sunday services. Visitors are always welcome.
